It can be argued that black and white photography is more dramatic than its color counterpart, and when you see a massive collection of B & W images, it’s hard to dispute the point. Looking to the past for inspiration, Justin Timberlake, Kate Moss and Josh Hartnett went ‘Old Hollywood’ for Givenchy, Longchamp and Armani. Some of today’s most reknowned fashion photographers do some of their best work in black and white. For instance, Michael Thompson’s depiction of Christy Turlington as a warrior goddess, as well as Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot’s dynamic shots of Penolope Cruz for W Magazine. They say that a picture says a thousand words; however, I think a black and white image speaks millions, and with a greater intensity. |
