Molly Ortwein, a survivor of breast cancer, went to a tattoo parlour to get breast tattoos to cover her scars and remind her of her strength. She was always very healthy, energetic and positive until the disease came out of nowhere. Within a short period of time she had her operation and chose to have a double mastectomy. She got her tattoo to have something else to see when she looked in the mirror. She wanted to have something different to be reminded of.
The tattoo artist has seen how tattoos help with the healing process by helping the customer forget something, or see it in a different way. The taboo around tattoos is slowly changing around the world and when people like Molly share their story and explain how tattoos have changed their lives for the better, someday the taboo might altogether disappear. These beautiful breast tattoos remind Molly of a happier place and will always remind her of her strength and triumph over breast cancer.
