Florentijn Hofman's giant Rubber Duck has brought nothing but smiles to the residents of Hong Kong, but this morning, its slow and sad death may have brought some tears. The friendly giant Rubber Duck deflated to a thin film of yellow nothing. It is predicted the duck was purposely harmed by vandals.
The duck entered Hong Kong earlier this month. It had planned to stay until June.
Luckily, Hofman told the public that the duck is easily repairable. The official Harbour City Twitter account stated: "The Rubber Duck needs to freshen up. Stay tuned for its return."
This isn't the first time the Rubber Duck was vandalized; the friendly duck was stabbed 42 times in Belgium. This case of art vandalism seems brutally cruel. I mean, look at that bright yellow smile.
