Premium Streaming Service Upgrades

Google is Adding New Features to YouTube for Premium Users

Google announced a new YouTube Premium update that brings a number of new features and upgraded features to subscribers of the platform. One new feature is what the company is referring to as "enhanced 1080p." This is essentially a 1080p-resolution streaming option with a higher bitrate allocated to the stream, meaning there will be fewer artifacts, more clear movement in the video, and an overall better experience for the viewer. It is important to note that Google is not yet removing 1080p resolution from its free-to-use tier.

In addition to this, Google is working on adding support for Apple SharePlay to YouTube, which would allow iOS users to watch videos with one another while on FaceTime. Lastly, the upgraded YouTube Premium will support smart downloads, similar to YouTube Music, Spotify, and Netflix. This feature will automatically download recommended content while on a non-metered wi-fi connection for users to enjoy while traveling or away from an access point.
