Just because people no longer wear clunky metal armor on modern battlefields, doesn’t mean XiaoBo Tong can’t adorn his warrior women in body protection inspired by the Middle Ages. But Tong doesn’t just take classic armor designs and then paint them onto his Japanese animation characters, he infuses the protective gear with futuristic elements like radiant alloys and electronic hardware, giving viewers game concept images like nothing they’ve ever seen.
And just because XiaoBo Tong’s subjects are mostly ladies who are combatants by profession, doesn’t mean he has to stifle their fashion sensibilities. Viewers will readily notice that many of the women are sexily clad, with several of them even sporting high heel armored boots. Impractical? Probably, but they’re pretty awesome to look at nonetheless.
