Joan Smalls Whirls to Lil Buck's Beat in WSJ Magazine's November Issue

Joan Smalls and Lil Buck partner up for an editorial titled 'Lil Buck's Classical Moves,' featured in WSJ Magazine's November 2014 issue.

Lil Buck is a Los Angeles-based dancer who entered mainstream consciousness after Spike Jonze uploaded a video of him and Yo-Yo Ma performing an interpretive dance of the ballet 'The Dying Swan' to YouTube. The video has since received nearly three million views.

Smalls must have a natural rhythm, because she picks up Buck's choreography in no time! The editorial really emphasizes the shape and form of the human body, and how it is able to contort and transform itself. Smalls and Buck were styled by fashion editor George Cortina and photographed by Daniel Jackson.
