The Withings BodyFit smart scale is an advanced piece of technology engineered by the brand to take on professional-grade scans to help democratize access to body composition data.
The unit features eight electrodes integrated into the main platform and a retractable handle to perform six-zone body composition analysis readings in as little as 20-seconds. The system will capture more than 40 physiological metrics thanks to its use of Bioelectrical Impedance Spectroscopy (BIS) technology that works across 13 frequencies. The scale challenges DEXA scans with a reported 99% correlation for fat mass measurements and up to 98% correlation for muscle mass when compared.
The Withings BodyFit smart scale is available now for $279.99 and will arrive in the uK July 1, 2026.

Key Themes Behind This Trend
- Portable Professional-grade Body Scanning
- Compact consumer devices delivering clinic-level body composition scans enable clinical-quality assessments outside traditional imaging suites.
- Multi-frequency Bioelectrical Analysis
- Use of BIS across numerous frequencies offers richer physiological profiles that can rival established imaging benchmarks for fat and muscle quantification.
- Democratization of Clinical Biometrics
- Broader access to detailed biometric metrics at affordable price points lowers barriers for continuous health monitoring and population-scale data collection.
Where This Applies
- Consumer Health Devices
- High-accuracy, fast body-analysis scales present opportunities to embed advanced diagnostic capabilities into everyday home products.
- Sports Medicine and Performance
- Rapid six-zone composition readings create potential for individualized athlete monitoring and recovery profiling based on near-clinic metrics.
- Telehealth and Remote Diagnostics
- Remote patient assessment models can be enhanced by integrating validated body-composition data into virtual consultations and longitudinal care records.
