Developed specifically for the wind-turbine industry, the new WindTwin digital software platform uses digital twin technology -- providing a solution for rapidly growing maintenance needs associated with running wind turbines, supporting the optimization of wind energy with more reliable and in-service wind turbines.
The project harnesses the new technology to combine a virtual system model with operational sensor data to create predictive maintenance of all wind turbines. By using digital twin models, all turbine operators will have access to up-to-date data on each asset performance, rather than regular schedule shutdowns for inspection. Reducing upkeep and maintenance costs, the virtual testing will allow for optimized performance and energy output.
The new WindTwin digital software platform has started a 30 month testing period, developing a plan to expand into adjacent applications and industries.
