Taiyaki is a fish-shaped cake that is paired with some sort of filling—sometimes sweet or savory—and these Japanese waffle desserts inspired the creation of Sweetosaur's new 'Wafflesaurus Rex.'
As a dinosaur-themed dessert shop, Sweetosaur offers a range of milkshakes, rolled ice cream and other kinds of treats. Its newest creation takes the form of an indulgent, crunchy warm waffle snack in a fun dinosaur shape. While the Chocolate Wafflesaurus variety pairs a chocolate waffle with chocolate ice cream, the Churrosaurus features a churro waffle base topped with premium dulce de leche ice cream and a caramel drizzle.
Taiyaki has been enjoyed by people in Japan for years, but the craze for the novelty waffle desserts is now reaching North American consumers who are equal parts intrigued by the dessert's unique combination of flavors, textures and aesthetic.
