'Hulu' recently announced that it has designed a new app that will allow customers to access a variety of VR films. In recent years, streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu have dramatically changed the way consumers watch video content. Hulu's latest announcement could change the film industry yet again by combining movies with VR technology.
With the release of its new app, Hulu subscribers will have an opportunity to access VR content. Once users have donned their VR glasses, the app will allow them to create custom 3D viewing environments. These settings can include everything from a movie theater to Jerry Seinfeld’s apartment in 'Seinfeld.' It is through these environments that users will be able to view VR films or a title from Hulu's catalog of 2D movies.
The new VR app elevates the streaming experience by combining entertainment with new technology. As Hulu's VP of Device Platforms Julian Eggebrecht explains, "Providing viewers with dynamic environments of their choice and themed around their favorite shows provides a whole new level of engagement."
