Joan Smalls embraces color in the 'Painting of Winter' editorial for Vogue Japan's December issue.
Winter has kind of a bad rap for being a dull and drab season. When you're trudging through grey sludge and fighting against biting winds, it's easy to forget the lush greenery of spring or the warm sunsets of summer. That isn't the case for Smalls, however, who has chosen this unexpected season to bust out the colors. Fashion editor Anna dello Russo styled each ensemble so that Smalls explodes in a flurry of color, kitsch and drama.
Hair stylist Andrew Guica and makeup artist Jessica Nedza continue the brazen look with candy-colored braids and splashy lip colors. The editorial was lensed by photographed Giampaolo Sgura.
