Paul Graves Elle France Series Depicts Scents in Trippy Settings

Photographer Paul Graves has created a new series for Elle France that depicts vintage perfume bottles. With each image, Graves uses techniques from both sculpture and photography to create a surrealist still life.

Besides the sculpture and photography aspects of the series, Graves introduces spoonfuls of what appear to be colored paint and tufts of fur, all color-coordinated to the likeness of the perfume bottle. The Elle France perfume editorial includes fragrances from labels such as Guerlain, Lolita Lempicka, Frederic Malle and Dior. The abstractness and the presence of vibrant color choices in each shot all add to the otherworldly traits of the editorial.
