Hyperkin introduced 'ShockLine,' a set of power kits that replaced retro consoles' and classic handhelds' original power supplies with USB-C alternatives, featuring compact USB-C adapters and device-specific connectors. Each kit included a USB-C cable, a compact power adapter rated up to 45W, and the cable or converter that plugged into the console or handheld.
The ShockLine series included five variants priced from $19.99 to $24.99 and supported systems including Famicom, Super Famicom, NES, Sega Model 1, SNES, GameCube, Nintendo 64, Nintendo DS, 3DS, 2DS, DSi and Game Boy Advance. The N64 kit supplied a converter for the console's power port and the GameCube kit shipped with a 45W adapter.
Kits came with kink-resistant cabling and handheld-focused versions included built-in overcharge protection, and the compact adapters were meant to free up space on crowded power strips. Hyperkin listed ShockLine on its site and made it available for preorder on Amazon ahead of its September 16 release.
