Upcycled Feminine Accessories

Lulu Beas' Upcycled Fashion Turns Menswear into Women's Accessories

As more people are becoming environmentally-conscious, finding upcycled fashion is no longer very hard to do. However, Lulu Beas is a designer who does something unique with her work—she turns used neckties for men into a scarves, purses and hats for women.

Since neckties naturally have a slim shape, the accessories feature a patchwork of colorful fabrics that have been sewn together to create a usable item. While the prints on some neckties may quickly go out of style, Beas matches the fabrics by color, pattern and texture in order to create fresh and aesthetically-pleasing accessories. As addition to selling her creations on Etsy, Beas also provides sewing patterns for ambitious crafters who want to take on their own upcycled fashion projects with scrap fabric they may already have lying around at home.
