Turtletree is Working on a Lab-Grown Infant Nutrition Product

TurtleTree is a Singaporean science-backed milk alternative company that aims to build a more sustainable future by providing easy access to animal-free dairy and infant nutrition products.

To create its products, TurtleTree uses biotechnology to recreate the composition of milk products with cells. Though the company has already been able to produce a more sustainable alternative to cow's milk using this method, it is currently working on a lab-grown breast milk. To accomplish this, TurtleTree is "using stem cells from volunteers that will be used to create mammary glands that can lactate." The company hopes to premiere its breast milk alternative later this year, and partner with major baby formula brands to bring it to market.
