The inclusive lingerie retailer 'Bluestockings Boutique' recently debuted a lookbook that features transgender models and other non-binary individuals. When it comes to mainstream lingerie ads, the majority feature white, cis-gender women of a certain size. This lookbook showcases and celebrates those who identify outside of the gender binary.
The new lookbook features a diverse cast of models, all of whom are LGBTQIA+ identified. Aside from transgender models, the campaign also features individuals of color, plus-size models and a real life couple. The models who volunteered for the shoot did so because they wanted to see people like themselves represented in the media. As a result, the lookbook provides a more inclusive idea of lingerie and those who wear it.
The lookbook demonstrates how retailers are catering to the needs of consumers who identify outside of the gender binary.
