The Toyota Research Institute Offers Level 4 Autonomous Rides

The Toyota Research Institute has announced that during the Tokyo Olympics the company will offer rides in its Level 4 autonomous vehicles. The auto manufacturer sees the Olympics as a perfect showcase for the technology, and the company will also give autonomous rides to the public. Toyota will operate rides for its Level 4 autonomous vehicle from July to September during the Tokyo Olympics.

The Toyota Research Institute has chosen to showcase its autonomous technology in the district to Odaiba, which is a busy waterfront area of Tokyo. The company states that the busy nature of the area and the tall glass buildings provide a significant challenge to the Toyota Research Institute. However, if the company is able to successfully operate the technology in the area, it could draw more interest in the company's autonomous capabilities.
