Crisp Chromatic Captures

This Tobias Colz Series is Colorful and Minimalist

Vienna-based photographer Tobias Colz recently shot a series set in California titled 'CyanCali,' which is rendered with such clarity and precision that one can be forgiven for forgetting that they're looking at photographs.

Everything about the series is crisp and defined. From the crystal-clear blue skies of California meeting sharply with the edges of buildings clad in single hues to the dark green leaves of palm trees standing in sharp relief against the contrasting colors of office facades, each photograph is a lesson in composition. In fact, there is little else in the series.

Colz cleverly employs a minimalist aesthetic to maximize the focus of the series. Aiming to draw distinctions between various hues and shades, the photographer neatly subtracts everything that is not essential.
