While there's plenty to ask for out of a weather app, from hour-by-hour forecasts to precipitation estimates to temperature with wind chill or humidex, Tinyclouds is a new app that decides to go a different route. The app offers all of the above, but the functionality that sets it apart from any of the other thousands of apps available is precisely in its lack of detail. Rather than showing all those data up front, the app's primary offering is a cute animation of a tiny city that reflects the local weather predictions for that day.

As it stands, the Tinyclouds animation is always a picture of the same generic city, though the developer hopes to create location-specific animations in the future. That pixelated fictional city will show a sped-up version of the day's weather, including predicted cloud cover, precipitation, and a temperature number at the bottom of the screen.
