Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol continuation was announced as part of the franchise’s 40th anniversary celebration following the Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri event in Japan. The new anime project formally revives the Dragon Ball Super series with a storyline that follows the Universe Survival arc and adapts the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Arc from the original manga, bringing Goku and Vegeta together with the Galactic Patrol to face the energy-absorbing antagonist Moro.

The production is confirmed by Toei Animation, with executive producer Akio Iyoku and voice actress Masako Nozawa present at the announcement. The reveal included early visuals showing the protagonists in Galactic Patrol-themed uniforms and insignia. In addition to The Galactic Patrol continuation, the anniversary event also outlined a remastered edition branded Dragon Ball Super: Beerus with enhanced animation and a refreshed presentation slated for late 2026.
