The Chupa Chups Impossible Lollipop Arrives in an Industrial-Strength Case
The Chupa Chups Impossible lollipop is a campaign stunt designed to be nearly impossible to unwrap. Developed with agency BBH London, the candy is sealed inside an over-engineered protective shell made from carbon composite, aramid fibres, silicon carbide and liquid rubber. The casing is engineered to resist cutting tools, heat and heavy pressure, transforming a simple lollipop into a deliberately difficult challenge.
A redesigned Chupa Chups wrapper sits at the centre of the reinforced shell and is intended to be easier to open than previous packaging used by the brand. The campaign responds to years of online complaints about how difficult the candy can be to unwrap. To promote the stunt, the company distributed the lollipops to creators known for stress-testing objects, including The Hydraulic Press Channel and creator Kenny Deuss. The campaign frames the candy as a “final boss”, referencing the toughest opponent at the end of a video game level.
