Target Partners with ChatGPT to Highlight New AI Shopping Capabilities

Target is rolling out a new way to shop by allowing customers to browse and purchase items directly within ChatGPT, making it one of the first major U.S. retailers to transform the AI platform into a full shopping channel. The launch coincides with the busy Thanksgiving and Black Friday period, positioning Target to demonstrate how generative AI can simplify holiday preparations—from quick gift discovery to meal planning and last-minute grocery needs.

Shoppers will be able to explore fresh foods, receive curated suggestions, and get personalized product recommendations based on their preferences or prompts.

"We need to be at the forefront of how the consumer is going to shop — and that means we get to the forefront of technology," Michael Fiddelke, Chief Operating Officer of Target, said.
