These spooky swirled meringue cookies are a great simple recipe to put together for Halloween that take little to no time to prepare and are essentially fool-proof to bake. These would make ideal sweets to serve at a party or to hungry trick-or-treaters.
The trick to making the meringues a swirled color isn't in applying the color to the cookie batter, but instead adding it to the pipping bag. The fluffy meringue mixture made from egg whites, sugar and water are poured into a bag that has been lined with three stripes of black food coloring along the perimeter. This way when the mixture is pipped the black will automatically swirl inside. The end result is these dainty Beetle Juice-inspired black and white meringues that are elegantly upscale.
