Those who have recovered from COVID-19 posses unique antibodies that could help others fight off the disease and Survivor Corps is a new website that connects these individuals with the scientific community.
Researchers are seeking to build a plasma bank reservoir from COVID-19 survivors and to design clinical trials to test the antibodies with those who have been exposed. The collection of these antibodies could begin immediately and research shows the best time to harvest antibodies from the blood is approximately 28 days after the onset of the virus.
The project stirred up notable media attention and was recently named as one of the top 20 innovative ideas to combat the pandemic by the Washington Post.
