Plastic-Infused Surfing Ads

These Anti-Pollution Ads for Surfrider Throw Plastic in Surfers' Faces

A campaign to raise awareness for acquatic plastic pollution for the Surfrider Foundation features beautiful surfing ads marred by plastic. The print ads are set in a beautiful and clear blue ocean with a small factor that changes everything. Every picture has pollution fouling a surfer's experience by getting in the way.

Included with the disturbing images is the text "almost 90% of all floating material in the ocean is plastic." That simple fact is the reason Surfrider decided to target plastic waste in order to help keep the ocean clean.

Developed by ad agency Arnold Worldwide, the ads seek to parody magazine surfer pictures. Attractive men and women are seen surfing mid-action. However, the addition of plastic pollution changes the entire premise of the picture and makes it very shocking.
