The Nick Lamp Pays Homage to the Concept of Sunset with Natural Elements

Lowroof, a homeware brand based in Seoul, South Korea, recently debuted the Nick Lamp. The lamp was inspired by sunset and symbolizes the end of the day. It was designed based on the circle of the sun, with visual elements that slowly darken through hourglass sand. The sand works to slowly obscure the light to adjust the illumination level.

The hourglass element of the lamp implies the time of the day, expresses the flow of time, and the falling sand slowly covers the light source. The lamp is comprised of wood, glass, and aluminum to create warmth and softness that is reminiscent of the concept.

Users can rotate the dimmer hand counterclockwise, the sand will fall and cover the light source. Depending on how much you rotate the dimmer handle, you can control how long the sand will fall. If you rotate clockwise again while the sand is falling, it will no longer fall and you can maintain it at the illumination level.
