Up until now, Tamworth Distilling's range has included whiskeys, gin, vodka, aquavit and liqueurs, and now it's expanding to include the New Hampshire brand's first foray into absinthe with Sugar Plum Fairy liqueur. This absinthe liqueur made with damson plums was inspired by a French recipe dating back to 1855 for cordials of the Alps.
The brand's luxe, limited-edition spirit takes cues from the way that gin is made, and it involves infusing and distilling locally grown wormwood with fennel seed, anise, Gentian root, Angelica, lemon balm and hyssop. “Traditional absinthes are undrinkable,” says Tamworth Distilling founder Steven Grasse, “My team and I pride ourselves in the fact that all of our spirits can be enjoyed straight, so we set out to make something truly special and one-of-a-kind, a sippable absinthe."
