Trend Hunter introduced me to steampunk design. I don't own a cell phone, but this may push the Luddite aside and make me advance into the Jules Verne era.
I love that this phone has no digital display and no keyboard. To make a phone call, you have to know how to put code on a punch card, then insert the card. Kewl.
Implications - The over-mechanized status of today's tech-obsessed society has resulted in a large portion of consumers longing for a taste of the past. As a result, modern products with an antique feel appeal to a specific type of consumer who is overwhelmed by the rapdily growing technology industry and wishes to take a step back.
