Oddly Embroidered Portraits

These Vintage Photographs Get a Burst of Color from Stacey Page

American artist Stacey Page creatively combines vintage portraits and outrageous embroidery. Transforming the black and white photographs with her colorfully wild designs, Page is able to show both her skill and imagination in her latest series of work. The intricate detailing in the stitching gives the old photographs new and vibrant lives. Not only that, but Page provides new opportunity for the art of embroidery, which is often seen as archaic.

According to the arts and culture website Flavorwire, Page stated that her inspiration for the juxtaposing strange designs in the portraits, “come from naturally occurring conflicts...the inner versus outer being. This conflict entails simple observations one might have about themselves regarding fashion, status, ego, and avatar.”

Let's hope Stacey Page continues to dazzle fans with her incredible eye-popping designs.
