The Spur October 2014 editorial featuring Stef Van Der Laan brings the model directly into overflowing fields. Photographer Makoto Nakagawa placed Laan within towering plants and small shrubs, making for an interesting interplay between the natural backdrop and the intricate display of fashion.
Stylist Tamao Iida dressed Laan within a series of pale shades. Showcased by way of faded pops of purple, pink and red were thick floor length coats, textured jackets, loose fitting sweaters, oversize outerwear pieces and collared shirts.
Given the unusual backdrop, little is predictable in this Spur production. Accordingly, Laan's tresses were kept messy and unkempt, flowing from side to side as she posed relatively effortlessly in the sprawling fields. At the same time, her natural makeup also matched the backdrop.
