Prima's Protein Bar is Gaining Traction at Sprouts Farmers Market

— March 11, 2026 — Marketing
Prima has established itself as a rapidly growing protein bar brand within the Sprouts Farmers Market retail chain. The product has achieved notable sales velocity across more than 480 locations since its initial launch in April of the previous year.

Prima's protein bar product line features formulations based on beef tallow, collagen, and whey protein. These varieties deliver 21 grams of complete animal protein per bar while avoiding ingredients such as seed oils, refined sugars, and processed fillers.

Over a ten-month period, Sprouts ordered in excess of 1.2 million units, with the Cacao flavor attaining the highest unit and dollar velocity among all nutrition bars carried by the retailer. The Salted Caramel variety ranked as the second-highest seller. Additional flavors in the lineup include Cookie Dough and Mocha.

Trend Themes

  1. Animal-based Protein Bars — The surge in beef tallow, collagen, and whey formulations indicates room for novel animal-protein centric snacks that differentiate on nutrient density and ingredient origin.
  2. Clean-ingredient High-protein Snacks — Growing consumer demand for bars without seed oils, refined sugars, or fillers creates space for formulations that prioritize minimal, recognizable ingredient lists while delivering high protein.
  3. Retail Velocity-driven Flavor Development — Rapidly rising flavor winners like Cacao and Salted Caramel point to the value of data-informed flavor lineups that scale quickly within regional retail chains.

Industry Implications

  1. Functional Snack Manufacturing — Manufacturers that can integrate animal-derived proteins into shelf-stable formats may redefine convenience nutrition with higher protein-per-serving offerings.
  2. Retail Category Management — Merchants optimizing assortment and velocity tracking can reshape snack aisles by prioritizing fast-moving, clean-label protein bars over legacy options.
  3. Food Supply Chain for Animal Fats — Supply chains capable of sourcing and processing beef tallow and collagen at scale could enable cost-efficient production of high-protein, clean-ingredient snacks.
