While fruit on a pizza isn't a brand new idea (popular Hawaiian pizzas contain pineapples, for example), Domino's in India is now offering spicy banana as a topping. Their South Zesty Veggie pizza includes ingredients like green peppers, chillies and green bananas.
The unusual topping option is based on "an internal research into the lifestyle and food choices of consumers" according to Hindu Business Line. Despite receiving mixed reviews, the crispy capsicum and Andhra style chilli banana pizza still manages to sell a few a day. The spicy banana pizza can also be customized online to add other ingredients such as gherkins. While pizza is not a typical meal associated with India, perhaps adding items like green bananas will help popularize the pies.
