Display Frame Lamps

Solaris Combines Ambient Lighting with Storage and Display Space

Solaris is a table lamp designed by 12-year-old designer Sol Rybakken Kallin for Swedish lighting manufacturer Blond. Unveiled during 3 Days of Design, the lamp features a curved rectangular frame with an open centre that functions as a display and storage area. The hollow space can accommodate everyday objects, decorative items, or small personal belongings, while integrated lighting elements at each end provide ambient illumination. The design is available with either frosted glass panels for a softer glow or perforated steel panels that create a more graphic lighting effect.

The project originated from Rybakken Kallin’s interest in design exhibitions and evolved through sketches and paper models before being developed into a finished product with support from her father, Norwegian designer Daniel Rybakken. Aluminium side panels frame the lamp and can be produced in a variety of colours, giving the object a simple yet versatile character.
