The Sustainable ZED Pods Can Be Installed in Parking Lots

The ZED Pod is a truly innovative solar home, designed by the British architecture firm ZED Factory, that can be raised on stilts, making it possible for it to be located in places like parking lots with the aim of creating new and fully sustainable living communities.

The prefabricated ZED Pod -- short for Zero Energy Development pod -- features a rather small interior. The downstairs houses a dining and lounge space, kitchen and bathroom while the upstairs features an office space and bedroom. These solar homes will features a number of sustainable technologies including solar panels, heat recovery systems, a composting toilet, grey water recycling facilities and much more.

Ultimately, these solar homes are not only eco-friendly but also compact and comfortable, and could hold a lot of promise in helping to make urban living affordable for more.
