Snap Specs Combine Immersive Displays with Standalone Smart Eyewear

Snap Specs are augmented reality glasses designed to deliver large-format digital experiences through a wearable form factor. Unveiled at the Augmented World Expo in California, the glasses project a high-resolution display with support for 16 million colours and a 51-degree field of view. According to Snap, the viewing experience can resemble a 24-inch monitor for productivity tasks or a large home cinema screen for entertainment. The standalone device does not require an external processing unit and supports room tracking, hand-tracking controls, and AI-assisted interactions.

The glasses weigh between 132 and 136 grams and are constructed from TR90 thermoplastic polymer. Electrochromic lenses automatically darken in bright conditions, and prescription support is available through removable lens inserts. The display system uses liquid crystal on silicon technology and waveguides that direct light toward the wearer's eyes.
