Orangetheory Fitness is introducing smartwatch-connected fitness classes through OTconnect for Apple Watch, allowing members to monitor their performance using a wearable they already own. The integration connects personal Apple Watches to Orangetheory's studio tracking system, providing an alternative to its dedicated fitness monitor while maintaining access to personalized workout information.
During classes, participants can view heart rate, calorie expenditure, training zones, and Splat Points directly on their wrists. After exercising, performance summaries remain accessible through Apple Watch, with additional insights available in the OTF app. The feature launches October 23 at participating U.S. studios for a one-time $99 connection fee.
For Orangetheory, the integration expands its connected fitness offerings while creating an additional revenue opportunity. Supporting familiar wearable devices could encourage member engagement and make performance tracking more convenient throughout the workout experience.
