The approach emphasizes facial expressions, posture and body movement alongside hand shapes, reflecting the visual and expressive nature of ASL.
It was developed with Deaf, hard-of-hearing and hearing artists, engineers and consultants, the app presents ASL as both a language and a living culture while encouraging learners to continue studying with Deaf instructors. Originally inspired by an animated series featuring Oscar and his family, the project adapts Staub's animation expertise into an educational tool for language learning.
