Toronto's Darren Gallery is launching a program called Sleep With Art that invites people to experience an overnight stay in the newly renovated gallery. The intimate experience with art gives guests access to become a living part of an installation, where they will be fully immersed in art. As the gallery sits level with the street, the storefront windows are covered with blackout curtains for privacy.
Within the gallery space, there are high-end memory foam beds, as well as other essentials of a living space like a kitchenette, shower, closet and bathroom.
On a regular basis, the installations will be changing to reflect a different vision from a new artist. As Darren Gallery describes, the experience is free from TVs "unless [it's] part of the installation as the focus is on the art."
