Fermentation-Derived Beauty Ingredients

Innosya Applies Fermentation Science to Cosmetic Formulas

Lesaffre is expanding fermentation-derived beauty ingredients through Innosya, a new business dedicated to developing sustainable ingredients for cosmetic formulas. Drawing on more than 170 years of fermentation and microorganism expertise, the company plans to create patented ingredients that can complement or replace components traditionally sourced through plant extraction or petrochemicals. The initial portfolio will place particular emphasis on supporting skin aging, with its first ingredients being presented at the In-Cosmetics trade show in Paris.

For Lesaffre, Innosya opens a new B2B market beyond its established nutrition, health and biotechnology activities. Fermentation can help beauty manufacturers address demand for natural and sustainable ingredients while reducing reliance on agricultural land and conventional extraction processes. A dedicated formulation laboratory near Paris also allows Innosya to develop tailored solutions for cosmetic companies, positioning Lesaffre as both an ingredient supplier and technical partner as it targets greater beauty industry presence by 2030.
