IoT-Enabled Driving Safety Beacons

Sigfox's New Device Can Detect When a Vehicle is Damaged

Global communications company Sigfox has teamed up with CAR-LITE, a Spanish company specializing in emergency signaling beacons for cars, to launch a new IoT-based beacon solution for car manufacturers.

The new beacon utilizes IoT technology and Sigfox's OG communications network to detect if an on-road vehicle is damaged, in which case it will automatically send out alerts to relevant road safety authorities. This new beacon model is particularly noteworthy because it does not require an Internet connection, Wi-Fi, or SIM cards to function.

Ideally, the new solution will allow public and assistance services to respond more quickly to emergencies and warn other drivers in real-time of potential hazards. The model itself arrives in the form of a compact beacon that can be attached to the roof of any car.
