Gendered Retro Consoles

Begum Celik Creates Statement His and Her Side Table Designs

A collection created for Gotwob design firm, the Diana & Dean side table designs by Begum Celik are inspired by the the styles prevalent in the 1960s.

The set consists of his and her designs, yet both styles are equally detailed and intricate with attention-grabbing blends of wood and metal. Emulating the flirty patterns of the 1960s, these accent consoles feature floral-shaped wooden tabletops and pastel color waves that add a touch of flair to a room.

Describing the inspiration behind her work, Celik explains, "It's been said a million times in many different ways; men and women are different. Understanding the inherent differences between them is almost impossible." Similarly, her side table designs share equal amounts of sophistication and retro glamour, yet vary from each other in key ways.
