As the title suggests, female users will have the option of specifying they would like a female driver. The service will be accessible through an Apple app. The best part of the whole thing? Your driver will roll up decked out in a hot pink pashmina, because everyone knows that this is the universal symbol for GIRL POWER. Dudes looking to chat up a lady driver better move along; the ride will only occur if there is at least one woman in the party.

The service is the brainchild of Stella Mateo, a woman married to the founder of the New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers. Beyond ensuring that women feel safer during their rides home, the venture is intended to give women the opportunity to break into a field that has been dominated by men.
