Cross-Cultural Baijiu Whiskeys

SHĀNG is Pioneering a New Category Inspired by Heritage & Modernity

SHĀNG is a new spirit at the convergence of 5,000 years of Chinese baijiu heritage and modern American whiskey craftsmanship, combining elements of two of the largest and oldest spirits categories to create an entirely new category that the brand calls jiàngxiāng whiskey. "SHĀNG represents the future of global spirits innovation," said Maritine Brands CEO Matt Rubin. "By bringing together centuries-old Chinese fermentation techniques with the precision and structure of American whiskey-making, we are creating something entirely new—an authentic collaboration of cultures, craftsmanship, and creativity."

Red sorghum from the Chìshuĩ River basin is a key component in SHĀNG expressions, and its structure and tannin content are unlocked through solid-state fermentation. SHĀNG Dàn Yǎ, the first expression, features a complex sensory profile with floral aromatics, umami depth, and a long, warming finish, and notes of fruit, chocolate, and baking spice. The second expression, the East + West Kentucky Blend, is made more accessible with a softer, rounder profile featuring vanilla, toasted grain, and caramel notes.
