Apart from being filled with delicious loose leaf, Senba Tea packaging is full of symbolism. Each box of herbal infusions comes with a collection of smaller cartons inside, all talking the shape of three-dimensional kites that represent longevity and peace in Japanese culture.
The 3D diamond containers are printed in a vivid red paper for visual stimulation and expose their perforated creases that enabled their origami-style assembly. Each one contains a pyramidal teabag with its string threaded through, enabling the octahedron to act as an anchor when the pouch is dangled into your mug.
After enjoying your warm beverage, Seita Goto's Senba Tea packaging can be fully recycled. Alternatively, the little lantern-esque boxes can be hung up as decorations by their cords, similar to those created in remembrance of the World War Two atomic bomb victims.
