Self-repairing UV tech is set to revolutionize sun care as L’Oréal Research & Innovation Japan unveils a groundbreaking formula debuting in Lancôme’s 'UV Expert Xtreme Shield SPF 50+' this April. This next-gen sunscreen offers high protection and a breakthrough self-repairing mechanism that strengthens its defense against UV damage, sweat, and sebum.
At the core of this innovation is Polymeric Complex Gel Particles (PGP)—binding polymers that create an ultra-durable UV shield. Unlike traditional sunscreens that degrade over time, this formula spontaneously repairs its microstructure when exposed to external stressors, ensuring longer-lasting protection. Additionally, the film helps scatter light, enhancing UV prevention.
Tested on 245 Asian women, the sunscreen demonstrated superior durability and skin benefits. Lancôme calls this its 'first-ever self-repairing UV protection,' promising a six-times stronger resistance to sweat and friction than conventional formulas.
