Doodle-Adorned Streetwear

SELF MADE Dropped a SS19 Capsule Full of Scrawled Sketches and Doodles

Gianfranco Villegas's fashion label SELF MADE is making a playful return for the Spring/Summer 2019 season with a range of sportswear layering pieces and sparsed doodle details. There is a strong retro inspiration that translates through relaxed shapes and old-school graphics but pushes forward with its fabrication and functional details. There are infusions of muted details amongst the colorful contrasting elements such as red studded black trucker jackets or white scribbling on dark belts.

A notable item is a tracksuit designed in collaboration with Sergio Tacchini, as it merges the scribbling details with color-blocked elements as well to elevate the piece with a contemporary touch. The SELF MADE signature doodle graphics have been incorporated using either print or embroidery. To make the handwritten text look more natural, some letters are crossed out and there are sketched boxes. Additional items include an oversized parka, a leather bomber jacket, oversized work shirts and tees and contrast-stitched denim.
