'Nüvist,' the Turkish architectural design studio, has announced the 'Segda Seat & Coffee Table,' a minimalist piece of furniture inspired by calligraphy. In calligraphy, writers use stylized lines for each letter that create wavy, appealing fonts. Additionally, many divisions of calligraphy place an emphasis on single-line designs where the pencil does not need to lift off of the paper to complete the writing.
The intricate art of designing and manipulating lines to create something beautiful is what inspired the Sega furniture set. The Segda Seat & Coffee Table features a unique design where a single line of material has been bent to create a stable chair and coffee table with a seating area. The top of the seat and coffee table is flat to allow for people, or items, to be placed on it, while the bottom features an open loop frame designed for stability.
Nüvist has announced that the Segda Seat & Coffee Table is the first item in what it is calling the 'Loop Signature' collection, a set of furnishings inspired by calligraphy and naturally occurring line-based artworks, such as the rings of Jupiter.
