The See.Sense Icon is a pair of bike lights -- head lights and tail lights -- that are equipped with a range of high-tech technologies including a reverse-biased LED that can measure ambient light levels and an accelerometer.
These lights are fitted with a special microcontroller that takes in output from the sensors to determine a bunch of factors including cadence, bicycle orientation (uphill or downhill), acceleration, braking, cornering lean and yaw. It then uses an array of custom algorithms to compare those factors with risky traffic situations, and takes steps to maximize the cyclist's visibility accordingly.
As an added bonus, the See.Sense Icon can communicate with the user's smartphone via Bluetooth. With those sort of exhaustive on-board technology, the See.Sense Icon is staking its claim as the bike light of the future.
