The Balmain Fall 2018 Collection is Both Metallic and Holographic

The Balmain Fall 2018 Ready-to-Wear sci-fi fashion collection debuted on the Parisian runway. The models, showcasing the label's offerings for this year resemble "travelers sent back from 2050 [...] to alter the course of fashion history." Olivier Rousteing conceptualizes the Balmain outfits with head-to-toe metallic fabrics, abundant chiffon, sequenced trenches, holographic PVC materials and mermaid-scaled garments.

The Ready-to-Wear 2018 constructs a forward-thinking universe, visually presenting of our own universal understanding of the future and how humanity will evolve. In retrospect the sci-fi fashion collection by Balmain is an experimental look into what the future holds— a seemingly popular trend in luxe fashion this season as Jeremy Scott presented a similarly themed catwalk.
