The Remote Grading Program for Beef (RGB) has been revamped with a new app from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) to extend its reach.
The app will utilize imaging with support from data management and oversight to remotely assess the characteristic of meat for grading purposes. Producers will then receive a Prime, Choice and Select rating in a timely manner that doesn't require them to visit one of the program's designated locations sites. At present, the RGB has 88 facilities across 32 states with many considered small or very small so this app launch comes as a way to alleviate stress on operators and producers alike.
The RGB app is also rated to support secure image submissions, fewer mistakes and clearer status visibility.
